I think I found it, the one ability you need in order to be successful at animating (or making games for that matter): Being able to look past the piece of crap that's on your stage at the moment and see what it can be become. Nothing is more destructive than looking at what you've worked so hard on the last few hours and realizing it looks like shit. Now, being able to see the possibilities in that piece of shit isn't that easy, it requires a somewhat creative imagination. But once you've put yourself past that 'This looks like vomit, I'm gonna play some videogames' mentality and pushed through with that piece of shit and actually managed to turn it into something beautiful a couple of times, you start to realize it is true.

So yeah, felt like sharing that bit. Don't hesitate to leave some tips in the comments section.

Also a few screens from my new game:

The key to animating...

For some reason I like listening to soundtracks when I'm working on Flash stuff. I don't know why, maybe because they're not distracting and they set the right atmosphere. Anyway, all I know is they're a huge help. Due to a crash I lost the majority of my music collection, so I'm on the lookout for new music to refill my library. I still have pretty much every Thomas Newman soundtrack that has ever been released, but there have to be more great scores and composers out there. Any suggestions NG?

I just got back from my 5-week roadtrip through the US, had a hell of a time!

One thing I like about holidays is the lack of computers. Sitting behind a screen all day always seems to drain my inspiration, being away from it all refuels the creative batteries. I have one big arse project running at the moment which I'll now spend all my time and energy on, it will turn out pretty awesome I think.

Shouldn't take much longer than a month I hope, stay tuned!

Now that D-Day Defender is of the frontpage I can finally focus on my next project, a Brazilian-Wax-Shop simulator, it will be a cross-over between Torture Chamber and Hamburger Restaurant. Suggestions are most welcome.

Go and play it right now!

Looks quite nice in the wide lay-out.

*Frontpage, thanks a billion!*

Getting closer to completion...

I've been working on a new game the past couple of weeks (well... three actually, but I'm only going to discuss one). It's a pretty simple but sweet endurance based tower defense game with some nifty visuals (see below somewhere). The game places you in the boots of a German soldier during the allied invasion on D-Day in 1944. You're going to try to fight of the invasion for as long as possible. Because the Germans didn't win neither can you, that's where the endurance part comes in! You can't actually win the game, the only thing you can do is postpone your own demise. There will be plenty of enemy units and 'powerups' to keep things interesting and make you want to last as long as possible though :)

I do hope the fact you're playing as a nazi soldier isn't going to cause any problems. I don't sympathize the Nazi's (or war for that matter) in the game. Neither does the fact that you play as a Nazi soldier have anything to do with my own beliefs (I think the Nazi's were a bunch of twatflaps). I merely thought it would be interesting to base a towerdefense game around D-Day.

Below are three screenshots from the game. And yes, the game is retardly (sp?) short in size, I had to crop the images a little but these are the proportions for the game (the size is 700x175). Consequently this means I won't be able to implement any ads in the game I think :(, but at least it looks pretty cool

More updates to follow most likely.

New WIP game, featuring nazis!

But I don't know what to post about, so why don't you give me some suggestions?

Edit: This post is now about me being UOTD.

That's right, if any of you guys and gals ever need a custom soundtrack done for a movie or game (a movie preferably) I would love to give that a shot. My audio profile isn't much right now, but I would like to at least give it a shot just once. Just give me a couple of days to come up with something and if I can't, or you think it's shit, use another song/artist. Easy as that. For free.

I'm also working on a new version of dragBall at the mo. I realized I might have made the game a bit too complex, so I'm simplifying everything. There's also better hit detection, keyboard controls for gamers with a laptop (because numero uno sucked on a laptop), dynamic color and sounds and lots of other things. Hopefully I'll finish it some time in January. Pic down below.

Also, this is my first frontpage post ever, never knew I could do that actually :)

Edit new song:

Edit 2: And another one :o http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /201209
Edit 3 even more:

I'll make a custom soundtrack... For free!
